Is Driver Restore Safe
I have an older computer. I have a new program that is acting up. It leaves pieces of previous windows or pull down menus on the screen - right in the way. A user on their forum said it was probably an outdated video driver.
I went to HP, they only have the original driver. I did a search on the graphic 'somehting or another' they listed (NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE graphics driver).
Those 'driver' sites came up. You know the ones, 'just download this software and it will keep all your drivers up to date and you will be the smarted person on the block forever and ever and your computer will run like the wind' and 'If you don't keep your drivers up to date, you will rot in hell and your computer will blow up tomorrow.' Are those sites safe? I usually decide I can live with the problem rather than mess with them, but this is pretty aggravating and I really need this program. Thanks, bkay. Www.driverguide.com is a good one It has been around for many years and it offers a Free registration or a Premium registration with more 'frills' and the site has many legacy drivers that the manufacturer's themselves no longer make available.
For YOUR particular problem with a GeForce 6150 LE graphics you would do better to simply go to the Nvidia driver download site: For option 1 on that link simply make sure it reads (top to bottom) Product type - GeForce Product Series - GeForce 6 series Product - GeForce 6150 LE Operating System - select YOUR Operating System Language - English or any preferred language Then click the search button and download and install the driver. Nvidia provides you with a driver package that supports several different graphics cards so it is really hard to go wrong on this. Be sure you also look at the Additional Information tab as it offers a Nvidia Control Panel User's Guide that might prove helpful.
Start the computer in Safe Mode – The second way to get back your original display settings is to start up in Safe Mode, which basically loads Windows in a stripped down state. Safe Mode loads up at a lower resolution and therefore allows you to log in and change the settings back.To start up in Safe Mode, you simply press and hold the F8 key when the computer starts to boot up. This is usually when you see the manufactures logo and the BIOS being loaded.
